Student Recruitment & Widening Participation Team
We aim to inspire and support the next generation of RVC students (including those who are under-represented at the RVC) and their supporters (e.g. parents/guardians, advisors, and teachers) through the design and delivery of a range of programmes/interventions that provide passionate, pro-active, professional and comprehensively tailored advice and guidance, as well as ensuring that our admissions processes are as transparent as possible. All of which are designed to help empower students so that they can make an informed decision and fulfil their potential and join the RVC. We also offer more targeted activities for local and under-represented individuals from initial engagement, followed by progression and attainment where appropriate for prospective students, we are meeting the aims of the Access and Participation Plan (APP). The APP is required by the Office for Students (OfS) to demonstrate RVC’s commitment to social mobility, and all universities have to demonstrate activities and evaluation that shows how they are providing for non-traditional learners to access degree courses.

Chris, Head of Student Recruitment & Widening Participation
Chris has been a proud member of the RVC since the summer of 2008. He is responsible for leading the development and implementation of the Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê×ÊÁÏ’s (RVC) undergraduate and postgraduate recruitment strategies both within the UK and internationally.
Ensuring that all activities/interventions are accessible to all (no matter their background/location) and support the student journey from first point of contact through to application and admission.
Jordan, Student Recruitment Manager
Jordan joined the RVC in the summer of 2021 as part of the Student Recruitment & Widening Participation team. His work primarily focuses on devising, developing and delivering a range of inspiring events and interventions in order to attract and support a diverse range of students applying to the RVC.
Jordan is primarily responsible for, but not limited to; Offer Holder Days, Open Days, Open Houses, RVC For Me Newsletter, RVC on Tour, RVC For Counsellors, International School Events and the Pre-Vet Summer School.
Hester, Widening Participation Projects Officer
Since graduating from the RVC’s MSci Wild Animal Biology course in 2022, Hester has been an integral member of the Student Recruitment & Widening Participation team. She is responsible for the planning, development, delivery and review of a range of inspiring events/interventions.
Hester is primarily responsible for; the RVC For Me Discovery Series, Pre-GCSE Attainment Project, RVC For Teachers, RVC Scholars Programme, Year 10 Easter School and Year 11 Summer School.
Jack, Widening Participation & Student Recruitment Officer
Jack joined the RVC in the winter of 2024.
Jack is responsible for leading the development and implementation of activities designed to attract and recruit a diverse student population to the RVC, as well as ensuring the integration and/or targeting of specific WP interventions alongside general student recruitment activities
Lesley, Student Recruitment & Widening Participation Coordinator
Lesley Porter joined the RVC in the autumn of 2024. Lesley is responsible for supporting the Student Recruitment and Widening Participation (WP) events/interventions.
Lesley is responsible for International Campus Tours, prospectus distribution, and collaboration between Student Recruitment and Widening Participation and Animal Aspirations.
Ambassadors
The External Relations Student Ambassador Scheme is a trained collective of selected current students who are committed to sharing their insight and passion for the RVC at a wide range of events/interventions that provide advice, guidance and support the journey of prospective students and their supporters until enrolment at the RVC.
Student Ambassadors also have the opportunity to support a wide range of other events across the RVC e.g. Public Engagement, Alumni events and Graduation etc.
